Swedtrain Tech&Future: Design Theory and the Evolution of Transportation

Join us for another Tech&Future webinar: ”Design Theory and the Evolution of Transportation” on 4 February, 09:00-10.00 am.

From the time of ancient Greece, engineers and scientists have worked to shape the future of transportation, striving to overcome technical, political, and financial challenges. Design theory has since evolved to offer tools and methodologies that reduce uncertainty and guide decision-making in complex engineering projects. Today, artificial intelligence is becoming a key enabler in advancing these efforts.

In this session, Giacomo Bersano, CTO of IKOS Group and a specialist in design theory, and Felix Girault, systems engineer with expertise in linear motor design, will introduce a comprehensive approach to technology forecasting, specifically tailored to the railway sector. The discussion will highlight its application to the design and manufacturing phases of rail systems, illustrating how emerging tools can drive innovation in transportation.

IKOS Lab is the research center of IKOS Group. Since its inception, IKOS Lab has supported over 15 PhDs in advancing research in design theory and technology development for the railway and energy sectors.

Join us in exploring innovative strategies to address the future challenges of sustainable rail transport!

Agenda:

  • Historical overview of previous transportation development, success and failures
  • Design theory and most suitable strategies according to maturity of the system
  • From traditional train to Maglev and to Hyperloop: why, and how… and Nevomo?
  • Future challenges and development scenarios
